Due this Week

The actions you need to complete this week as well as directions for each activity follow.

We have looked at a large number of Web 2.0 tools this semester.  For our final week, I want to look at why we should be so interested in the use of Web 2.0 tools in the classroom - or work environment.   Living in this era of lightening quick change, we must prepare students - not so much to be able to recite facts, but to be able to come up with innovative solutions to problems that we don't even know exist yet.  How do we teach them to come up with creative ideas in this era of test-driven curriculum.  Steven Johnson has some important thoughts about this. Please view the video below.

If Stephen is correct, then it is more than important, it is critical that we provide our students with multiple opportunities to collaborate and share ideas. And it is just as important that we give teachers the opportunity to collaborate and share.  Prezi is one incredible platform for sharing, collaborating on content that is available for educators.  I must admit, I have not always been a fan of Prezi.  Indeed, I was a victim of Death by Prezi and have tended toward - well ignoring it.  Not sure what I mean?  See the video below.

But, as teacher leaders, it is important that you find ways to mentor other teachers about what you have learned in this class. As a tool, we are going to build a Prezi about Web 2.0 tools. Because it is late in the semester and time is limited for us all, I created a shell for you to begin working on.  This will be the grand experiment again (like the Google Docs mystery).  Each of you will contribute content to this Prezi. You may add content, make comments, insert relevant videos, upload your PPTs and ???  Let us make this a huge resource for you to use when you mentor teachers.  Let's shoot for everyone adding a minimum of 2 additions to the presentation.  I suggest that to begin, you add your favorite Web 2.0 tools (with a screen shot), a video about your tool, an example of how it can be used, and a link to it.

You will be added as an editor using your email(s) listed in the Course Portal.  If you would like another email to be used, please let me know.  You can get to the Prezi herePlease add your name to the bottom of each post so that I can identify your contributions.

Prezi is quite an exciting tool and has always been a student favorite.  (Not my favorite yet - I have suffered through sea-sickness too many times. But, now that I know that it was the result of bad Prezi, I might change my mind.)  However, if you really want to get excited about its power, take a look at all the new features: https://prezi.zendesk.com/entries/22919692-New-Feature-Log

Finally, write a brief reflection on how you can use this tool in your collaborative work environment.
