Chapter 4 Design Project: Summary of Thought Process:

 

Brief Summary of the Process:

 

Students are becoming concern on the types of foods they are intaking and what affect they may have on their health and daily activities.  Students can become better aware of what they eating by documenting their food intake in a nutritional log and by becoming aware of other factors that may effect their choices in foods, such as advertising, the economy, and the food caloric data that is labeled on food products.

B. Grade Level: 5th Grade

 

C. Subject Area: Health Education: Nutrition

 

D. Estimated time for completion: 2 weeks

 

E. Authentic Activities:

(1). Students will develop a 1 week menu on their breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner meals by gathering food labels.

(2). Students will keep a daily nutritional log inputting their breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner meals.

(3). Students will become smart consumers in analyzing how the economy, advertising , and food labels/menus influence their  food choices.
