Project Description

IDEA Frontier Academy is a charter school located in Brownsville, TX. With some teachers help, I developed a long-range technology plan for class edtc6342, Technology leadership.

After completing the Star Chart, we realized that, although the Infrastructure for Technology key area is in advanced classification, there is something we can improve.

The ratio students per computers connected to Internet is 8. Unfortunately, there are no computers in the classroom for students use. When a teacher planned a lesson and will need computers, they can go to the computer lab or request laptops in the classroom. The teacher must request the laptops one week in advance.

As part of the technology plan, our vision for Infrastructure for Technology key area is:

The IDEA Frontier Academy campus is equipped with the adequate bandwidth for Internet

connection inside all rooms. Computers in the classrooms are available just when a previous

request is made by the teacher. The average students per computer connected to the Internet

is 8. In our vision all classrooms have a ratio of 4 students to 1 access to Internet-connected

computer.

In order to increase the ratio of 4 students to 1 access to Internet-connected computer, we established this objective:

IDEA Frontier Academy will need 90 computers in order to achieve a better ratio. Computers For Learning is a program that mediate donation from federal public agencies to accredited schools and non-profit educational organizations.

When I called the hotline for Computers For Learning, I found that the only registration we need to submit is the following:
