Week 1 - EDTC 6329 Special Topics
Session Plan and Activities |
This week you will complete the Technology Orientation and the Scavenger Hunt. Those activities will prepare you to use the technology that you will need to use throughout the course. Each activity is designed to get the technology learning curve out of the way without having to learn content at the same time. The directions are very detailed and I encourage you to read them carefully to understand the expectations. All the directions have gone through several iterations to ensure they are as clear as possible. If something is not clear, please read the directions again and try to work through them before contacting me. Should you still find directions unclear and want to contact me, please be as specific as possible about where you are stumped. A general email that says, "I don't understand anything in the Orientation," will receive a reply from me asking you to read the directions again and let me know specifically where you are stuck.
The semester will fly by and we have much to learn, so, let us begin.

Readings/Viewings |
- Week 1 Materials - this page, Technology Orientation, Scavenger Hunt, all videos regarding topics, etc.
- Please spend some time reviewing the following site: Stark Library Guide. At least four students will be asked to volunteer for developing our own UTB guide for the College of Education. This guide is a great place to start to research using Web 2.0 tools in the college classroom. Those who are working with other professors will be using the resources in the guides and be looking for additional ideas. We will be discussing the site in our first Collaborate session so be prepared!
|
Collaboration |
Thus far, peer to peer collaboration will take two forms. You will be meeting in Collaborate to complete challenges together during class and you will be sharing ideas, resources, links on brain-based learning via Diigo.
We will not have online discussion this week. Instead, you will be joining the Diigo group for EDTC 6329 and you will be selecting the week that you will be "hosting" the group. Actual posting to Diigo will not begin until Week 3. Each week, at least one person from each section of the class will be hosting the group topic for the week and all students will be responding. Directions about how to do this activity will follow in the "Deliverables" section below.

Due this Week
|
The actions you need to complete this week as well as directions for each activity follow.
|
Scavenger Hunt
The Scavenger Hunt will help you to better understand the requirements of the course and navigation through the course. The links below will take you to the activities that you need to complete. You do not need to finish this first. As you work through the other activities, you will find answers to many Scavenger Hunt questions. I do recommend reading through the questions before you begin the Technology Orientation so that you will recognize an answer when you come across it. Once you find all the answers, please go the the BlackBoard Course and click on the link to Quiz 1. This will allow you to submit your answers.
|
The orientation guides you through setting up and using all the tools you need for this course. Please make sure that you complete all the steps.
