Week 8  (Summer 3B)      EDTC 6340 Advanced Applications of Technology

Session Plan and Activities

Google Docs is one of the most amazing tools that we have for collaborating on documents, projects, research, presentations and really any thing you can imagine.  One of the nicest features is that you can collaborate in real time.  For the next few weeks, we will be exploring the capabilities of Google Docs tools.  In addition to beginning work on Google Docs/Drive, you will also be continuing work on your Web 2.0 tools, and your Text.  You will also post a reflection based on your readings.

Create a Google Drive Account

If you already have a Gmail account, then you should also have a Google Drive account.  Log in to your Google account.  You will find a series of icons at the top right of the page as shown below. Click on the grid indicated below.

Clicking on the grid will open your Google Apps that are available. Click on the one labeled Google Drive as shown below.

Your Google Drive will open and show any files you may already have created. If you have never created files, it will look empty.  I have shared a Folder with you called 6340 Spring 2014. We will be working with documents and files in the folder in the next couple of weeks.  If you cannot find the folder, then click on "Shared with Me."  If  you still do not see the folder in your list, then likely I have entered the incorrect address for you. I used the emails that you provided on the portal page at the beginning of the semester.  If you do not see the shared folder, then send me an email with the email address you want to use for Google Drive and I will add your name to the list.

We are going to do a little fun document sharing for this assignment.  I have started a short story called, Mysterious Ending.  It is mysterious because I really don't know where the twists and turns will take us. And neither do you!  We are going to write this story as a group. Your assignment is to read the story that is already in place and add to it.  It must make sense - so be sure to read what has been written before.  But. be creative and fun and see where you can take the story.  Be sure to add your name at the end of the segments you write so we know who has contributed. In addition to adding text, please insert one picture that will illustrate the story. Each of us should write at least two segments - more if you really get involved in the story.  Please have your first segment written by Wednesday so that everyone will have an opportunity to contribute a second segment. Plot twists and turns are encouraged!!!!!  Let's maintain a "G" rating.

Only you know where this will go - but let's have fun getting there.

Personal Web 2.0 Tools

Keep working on your three Web 2.0 tools for the presentation at the end of the semester.
